Sgùrr Alasdair B&B is named after the highest peak of the Black Cuillin and also the highest peak on the Isle of Skye. The English translation of Sgùrr Alasdair is “Alexander’s Peak”.
The B&B is situated in Portree, the largest town, and the “Capital of the Isle of Skye”.
Portree is approximately 45 minutes from the Skye bridge.
The bed and breakfast is a great base for exploring the whole of the island and especially the Quiraing and the Trotternish Ridge in the north of the island. Close by is the Brides Veil Waterfall, the Old Man of Storr, Lealt Falls Viewpoint and Kilt Rock.
If you continue north past the Quiraing you will come to Flodigarry and the village of Kilmuir where you can see Flora MacDonald's grave in Kilmuir cemetery. Next to Kilmuir cemetery you can also visit the Skye Museum of Island Life.
The B&B has two letting rooms one room has a king size bed and has an ensuite shower room consisting of a toilet, a double wash hand basin and a large walk in shower. This room is also equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, a toaster and a small refrigerator.
Our other room has a double bed and an en-suite shower room consisting of a toilet, wash hand basin, and a large walk in shower. This room also has tea and coffee making facilities, a toaster and a small refrigerator.
Both bathrooms are supplied with bath sheets, hand towels, toothbrushes, bath caps and hair and body shampoo.
Unfortunately we do not allow pets on the premises
A continental style breakfast is provided for the duration of your stay.
This consists of milk, orange juice, yoghurts, bread, butter, a selection of cheeses, cold meat, cereals and fruit.
A gluten free alternative is available also. Prior notification is required for any dietary requirements.
Please note that cooking is not permitted in any of the rooms. If you smoke, or cause any stains whilst eating in the room an excess cleaning charge will be applied.
We are located on Viewfield Road which is the main road entering Portree from the south.
As you enter the village you will pass the Isle of Skye Candle Company Visitor Centre on your left-hand side.
A little further you will see a filling station on your right and Sgùrr Alasdair is situated approximately 800 metres on your right down the lane next to the Quiraing B&B.
There is a car park situated at the front of the property.
